The Student Experience in Stong Residence

Stong has a pioneer spirit and as a residence community we work to create an inclusive and respectful home for all.  If the residents are not out enjoying gym time at Tait, participating in intramurals, or cheering on one of the many varsity athletes that reside within Stong, they can be found in the common rooms enjoying one of the various events that the Don Team or Residence Council have organized. We offer a diverse community that also houses students that are focused on perfecting their creative side.  The Residence Life staff welcome ideas and suggestions from the community and strives to have all members feel empowered to make a positive difference not only in Stong and at York but in all aspects of their life.  We are excited to have you call Stong home and look forward to creating amazing memories and opportunities for growth.  Please do not hesitate to speak with a member of the Residence Life staff to see how you can begin to explore your future.

A Welcome from your Residence Life Coordinator

Hello Stong,

I first want to welcome you to the vibrant community here at Stong. I hope that while you are here you will grow to call Stong your second home. Residence is where you are encouraged to be yourself and grow as a person.

As the RLC I oversee the residence community and assist you through your development at York. To help me with this are amazing student leaders called Dons. The Dons are here to help you transition into university life and become a strong and independent person, ready for the challenges that university can hold. Together we will work to ensure that Stong is a safe and inclusive space.

As the year moves along there will be many opportunities to become involved in the residence and I highly encourage you to make the most of your time with us. I recommend that you look over the Residence Handbook and the Student Code of Rights and Responsibilities as they are key tools in ensuring that your transition into living in residence is a smooth one.

Finally, I hope that you find your time here in Stong to be a rewarding and eye-opening experience that helps you discover your true potential.
