Living Learning Communities

Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are themed communities that complement residents’ academic learning within the community they live in. Each LLC incorporates educational opportunities and events centered around a theme to enhance members’ learning and development.

Students have the opportunity to apply to live in an LLC as they complete their Housing application. The LLC application does not guarantee a space in the LLC or in residence.

2023-2024

York University’s LLCs for 2023-2024 are:

Sustainability LLC

The Sustainability LLC is centered around the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and incorporating Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing. In particular, this community will center the Development Goals that may be relevant to residents (such as No Poverty, Gender Equity, Zero Hunger, and Climate Action). The Sustainability LLC is a great opportunity for residents who are interested in learning more about or are committed to engaging in practices that contribute to the well-being of our world and communities.

Well-Being LLC

The Well-Being LLC is centred around four dimensions of well-being: Spiritual, Physical, Emotional, and Mental, and will incorporate Indigenous ways of knowing, being, and doing. This LLC is particularly informed by York University’s Well-Being Strategy and the Okanagan Charter. The Well-Being LLC is a great opportunity for residents who are interested in learning more about how the different dimensions of well-being are interconnected to support holistic well-being and development.
